The agent keeps, for each contact, an **automatic summary** of what it knows about them — it updates on its own after every conversation and is shared across channels (if the same customer first writes to you on WhatsApp and then on the web widget, the agent already knows what you talked about before). This screen does NOT show the content of those summaries — that lives on **each contact's card** (Manual 27 · Marketing and contacts, section 4.3), where you can also read, correct or delete it yourself. Here you only configure **how long** it's kept. **Requirements:** Admin role. 1. Go to **Settings → Memory**. 2. Choose the **memory retention**: 90, 180, 365 or 730 days. 3. Tap **Save changes** (or **Discard** to undo the change without saving). **Result:** when a contact's summary has gone more days than the chosen value without being updated, it's deleted **on its own** — nobody has to do anything. The contact and its conversation history aren't affected: only the summary is lost, and the agent will start building a new one on the next conversation with that customer. > **Note — There's no switch to "turn off" memory** > > This screen only controls how long each summary is kept, not whether the agent memorizes or not — memorizing is always on for every contact in your business. If you need a specific customer's summary to disappear right away (for example, at their request), delete it by hand from their card (Manual 27, section 4.3) instead of waiting for it to expire on its own. Fully erasing a customer's data (GDPR Art. 17 right, "Danger zone" on their card — Manual 27, section 4.6) also deletes their memory along with the rest of their data; there's no need to delete it separately first.
